Attorney Powell-Williams is the sole proprietor of the Powell-Williams Law Firm, P.A. in Jacksonville, Florida where she now practices. She graduated from Florida A&M University with a degree in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics. Mrs. Powel-Williams obtained her law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law where she graduated with a Juris Doctor degree and was awarded the J.K. Coble, Jr. Award for Distinguished Public Service.
Upon graduation, she worked as a legal intern public defender with the Volusia County Public defender's office and later as a Child Welfare Attorney with the Florida Department of Children and Families in Citrus and Duval counties. She became a partner in the firm of Murray & Powell-Williams, PA, and later opened her own legal practice, Juanita Powell, PA, Attorney and Counselor at Law now The Powell-Williams Law Firm, PA.
Attorney Powell-Williams has a long list of community service participation both present and past including, her Senate appointment to the Florida Black Business Investment Board, Vice President of the Board of Three Rivers Legal Services Region II-FL, Mayoral appointed board member of The Jacksonville Housing Authority, The Housing Partnership of NE FL Board, Learn to Read Program, McKnight Achievers Parent Organization, The Right Track Mentor program, Foster Care Citizen Review Panel, and local PTA's to name a few. She is the current VP Jacksonville N.O.W., Board of the JWJ Branch ASALH, member LWV Jax/First Coast, Women's March FL, Duval Dem Black Caucus, Dem Senior Caucus, DWIN, and the DDEC.
She was formerly an Executive Board member of Jax Branch NAACP and SE Reg Legal Advisor and member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
